What to respond? Talking points Migration Crisis 11.1.18
Most recently, the Senator Michael Bennet invites to his constituencies to stop this inhumane policy and introduces KeepFamily ACT-bill proposal. More information bellow:
The increasing number of children being ripped away from their parents at the border is sickening. Between May 5 and June 9, more than 2,300 children were separated from their families.
Americans of all political stripes have spoken out against this immoral policy. Yet the President and his administration continue to perpetuate falsehoods and blame others for their own cruelty. Their separation policy undermines our most sacred values as Americans, fails to keep our country safe, and causes unnecessary trauma for thousands of children and families.
I want to tell you what I’m doing to put a stop to this inhumane policy.
Last week, we introduced the Keeping Families Together Act that would prohibit the Department of Homeland Security from taking children from their parents at the border unless absolutely necessary to protect the child from harm. We also sent a letter to President Trump demanding he end his separation policy.
Last night, I also delivered a speech on the Senate floor, calling on every member of Congress to stand up for these children and calling on President Trump to end his policy now. You can watch the video by clicking here.
